A great day out in support of Children's Rehab

A great day out in support of Children's Rehab

Support for Children’s Rehab

Now in it’s 17th year, the Children’s Rehab Charity Golf Day was established to honour the life of Liam O’Flaherty, the son of the former Department Head of Kids Rehab, Dr Stephen O'Flaherty.

All funds raised by the golf day go directly to support Kids Rehab at the Children’s Hospital, Westmead and Rehab2Kids at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick via the 'Liam O'Flaherty Fellowship Trust Fund'.

The LOF Fellowship Trust Fund assists clinicians including nurses and therapists to gain further training in the area of paediatric disabilities.

  • Funds raised from the Children’s Rehab Charity Golf Day go toward the LOF Fellowship Trust Fund which was established to assist Rehab Clinicians including Nurses and Therapists to gain further training in the area of Paediatric Disabilities across both rehab departments (Westmead & Randwick) for the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network.

The trust funds are directly used in the ongoing education of SCHN Rehab staff that may not otherwise have the opportunity to further their knowledge. To date, this has included attendance at conferences, workshop training and university courses.

  • The special group of children who have various conditions and who require rehabilitation to regain or gain their best level of independence.

An example of who is seen by the rehab teams is a child who has suffered a severe brain injury in a motor vehicle accident. These children often have to spend many months receiving intensive rehabilitation. The funds raised by the golf day go directly to providing world class support and services for these patients.
